UV light is used in disinfection systems to treat water. Quartz sleeves are installed over the lamps to provide a housing environment for UV lamps. Because they are made of quartz, lamp sleeves perform the dual functions of temperature maintenance and breakage protection.
Efficiency of the UV disinfection unit depends on how effectively UV rays are able to penetrate through the sleeve into the water. The surface of the sleeve should be free of contaminants such as minerals, debris and other materials that tend to settle on the lamp’s quartz sleeve.
To reduce the mechanical and chemical cleaning frequency fluoropolymer protection are applied onto the sleeves to reduce the deposit of contaminants on the surface and keep a high level of UV transmittance.
